Since our inception, MZG Theatre Productions has practiced an “Equality Rider” across each season of work we produce. The fact that our producers Jack and Brian are two middle class white cis-gendered males is not lost on us, and the company was created so we could “pass the mic” to as widely diverse a group of artists as possible; to tell their stories.
Over each of our seasons on average, at least 71% of our companies, creative teams, production teams marketing, press and advertising teams on our shows and concerts have been diverse in terms of race, gender identity, sexuality, socioeconomic class, and people with disabilities.
If we were to just look at racial identity, this figure drops to 18%, with is in no way good enough. It is because of this that we are committed to hitting 50% racial diversity across all departments by 2022 (a date that we feel is fitting with the current lack of ability to produce full-scale shows due to the current global pandemic).
Black Lives Matter. Inclusion Matters. And giving people a platform to tell their stories their way Matters.
